March Classes

Due to the winter storms we have moved the monthly watercolor class to start on the 8th of March and to complete on the 29th of March. We are trying to find 3 more students that will reserve their space before the 6th of March. The 10-day forecast is no or little precipitation until the 10th day with a low of 35 degrees. NO SNOW.

New Art Materials

Art Alternative Wood Panels – Cradled
More durable than canvas, wood panels resist flexing or warping, making them great for painting, especially thick, heavy applications and palette knife work, as well as encaustic, mixed media and craft use as a shadow box, frame or tray. The 4mm hand-sanded birch wood surface is smooth for detailed work and mounting. The sturdy pine cradle adds support and allows for hanging without a frame. Available in two profile depths: Studio panels have a 3/4″ deep profile and Gallery panels have a 1-1/2″ deep profile.

Clairefontaine Premium Pastelmat Pads

Pastelmat pads were designed to meet the specific expectations of serious pastel artists. Pastelmat’s strong, buttery surface has more tooth than traditional Ingres papers but is not abrasive, allowing painterly effects to be achieved. Its texture allows it to grab onto the pastel, breaking up the pigment and pulling it deep into the surface for exceptionally vibrant color. Flat tints, precise details, or delicate and transparent veils are easily realized. The use of fixative is not necessary with Pastelmat. This acid-free paper’s rigidity, weight, and light-resistance guarantee conservation of the artwork. The 170 lb. (360gsm) heavy-weight sheets are also an ideal surface for oil pastels, charcoal, colored pencils, acrylics, watercolors and gouache. Each pad is glue-bound and contains 12 sheets. Each page is separated by glassine sheets to prevent smudging.

To the person who came in looking for these but could not find them. These are on display between the pastels in the drawing area.
