Oil, Water-soluble Oils & Acrylic Painting Class Supply List

Please bring all paints, brushes, palettes, canvas boards that you believe may be suitable. The instructor will review what you have and what is acceptable.

Required Supply List

1. Vine Charcoal (medium or hard for sketching out your chosen painting)
2. Sketchbook, 9×12 or larger, for notes and study…….your favorite pen or pencil, white eraser
2. If choosing regular oil paints- Gamsol (16oz or larger), fast drying oil (graham alkyd oil or galkyd)
4. If choosing Water Soluble Oils – fast drying oil (quick drying liquid or quick dry medium)
5. If choosing acrylics – retarder for slower drying or choose from the OPEN line, satin glazing liquid (blending medium)
6. Silicoil Jar or Bob Ross bucket (for studio brush cleaning in acrylic or oils)
7. Brushes: Princeton Snap: 10 flat, 4 filbert, 2 round, 8 filbert, 2 liner, 4 bright**  or Princeton Real Value Set PB9148**

**Some additional brushes may be needed after your project is decided upon.

(instructor will discuss in class which brushes will best work for your chosen style and size)
8. Palette Knife (Medium sized to be used for paint mixing and some painting styles)
9. canvas, canvas panels or gessoboards (no smaller than 11X14)
10. Stretched Canvas 16×20 or as needed (canvas types will be discussed in class)
11. Gray Paper Palette 12 x 16 with/or sealed palette (if you wish to save your paint for travel)
12. Masking Tape 1/2″ or 3/4
13. Color Mixing Guide (medium size or larger)
14. Pencil Sharpener
15. Workable Fixative
16. A few pictures of paintings that inspire you to paint, styles that you may like.
