Prescott Valley Art Guild: Juried Competition for Local Artists!
The Prescott Valley Art Guild is hosting its third annual ‘Fall for the Arts Juried Competition’ that is open to all 2-dimensional artists in four categories who reside in central Arizona.
-There is no theme, nor a time limit for your art. Just submit your best pieces of work, regardless of when it was completed
-There isn’t any gallery sitting.
-Over $1500 in prize money will be awarded in the following categories:
1. Watercolor, gouache
2. Oil, acrylic
3. Photography, digital art
4. Misc.—Mixed media, collage, original fine art prints, drawing, pastel, pen/ink, pencil, scratch board, alcohol ink.
Entry forms are available at most area galleries and at www.PrescottValleyArtGuild.org . Postmarked mail-in application deadline is September 14, 2016. The non-refundable entry fee for 2 pieces is $30. Additional pieces may be entered for $15 ea. The show will hang in the Prescott Valley Library from October 10 through November 19, 2018. A reception will be held in the Crystal Room of the Prescott Valley Library on Sat., Oct. 13 from 4:30 until 6:00.

Prescott Center for the Arts Day of the Dead art show!
It’s time to be part of PCA’s 6th annual exhibit celebrating the Day of the Dead/El Dia de los Muertos! Artwork in both 2D and 3D will represent this joyous day of remembrance that connects the living and the departed. The Day of the Dead is rich in cultural significance in many parts of the Latino world, and lends itself to the imagination of artists to capture its traditions, icons, and history. In Mexico, special songs, poems, food, and toys are created.
Deadline for entries is September 11th
On November 2, families gather at an ofrenda, or altar dedicated to the deceased, or at their grave site, with decorated sugar skulls, pan de muerto, candles and their loved ones’ favorite foods and drinks. Whimsical skulls and skeletons, “papel picado” (perforated paper) and marigolds are also part of the iconography that artists can interpret.

The exhibit will coincide with several popular events including the annual Studio Tour October 5, 6, 7, and our popular sugar skull workshop on October 27. These events will bring additional exposure to our artist’s works.

Mountain Artists Guild and Arizona Art Alliance
Desert Light
This Premium Event will take place over a weekend and is ONLY open to members (Alliance-juried or not) who are in good standing with an affiliated AZ Art Alliance Member Group listed on our website. Please check the list before entering. Each applicant’s BODY OF WORK WILL BE JURIED. All artwork must be for sale. Open to all 2D and to 3D artwork, including jewelry. 2D Artists’ work will be displayed on panels (DISPLAY AREA for the body of work is 35 in. x 60 in. to allow for borders between pieces and for tags). 3D Artists must provide their OWN locked display cases/tables/pedestals (no 3D work will be displayed on panels). 3D Jewelry DISPLAY AREA is 30 in. x 48 in. Other 3D Artwork (sculpture, gourds, ceramics, glass, etc.) DISPLAY AREA is 36 in. x 60 in. Artists must submit a BODY OF WORK (not to exceed 5 pieces) that would comfortably occupy the Display Areas, as above. JEWELERS MUST SUBMIT 5 images to be juried (Jewelers will be allowed to fill their displays with other non-juried works, but MUST also include those 5 juried pieces). It is desirable that Jewelers tend their displays during this weekend Event. Demo Artists (must be participants in Exhibit) & Volunteers will be needed. There will be no Ribbons/Awards for this Exhibit.
